I’ve always liked to meet people in person. I don’t like talking on phones and messages/texts/emails often get read in a way the writer never intended. I don’t post much and don’t really care what people had for lunch, it’s not my thing.

But now I’m trying to navigate the complexities of social media because that’s what ‘they’ tell me to do.

To get people to buy your book, you have to be on (insert social media platform). Yeah, I get that, it’s a way to connect to people and that is what I want to do, but is my life that interesting?

Perhaps this is my lack of self-confidence again or the imposter syndrome surfacing. Would I want to read my posts? Actually, yeah. Because in the end a post is like a chapter or scene in a story, and that’s definitely something I’m into. Seeing a character’s development through the incidents of their life, hearing their voice through the words they have chosen to write, yeah, that’s cool.

Of course it’s not without its own hassles – the wrong type of account, links not working, blogs being published when they shouldn’t be (sorry subscribers!) etc etc.

So now Facebook and Instagram are my friends and I’m posting and blogging and all that other stuff.

Not up to videos/reels yet – baby steps…
